Making Synth Patches: Video Tutorials

To be honest, I’m kind of a rock n’ roll kind of music producer.  I tend to zero in on something that works and then go from there. As much as I love synths, I’ve been a patch-whore for some time in that I tend to stumble upon patches I like and then tweak them a bit to better suit what I’m going for.  I’ve always wanted to get a better handle on how synthesis really works: oscillators, modulation, filters, and the like.  Well, tonight I found a brilliant tutorial that spells it out quite clearly.  Cheers to thesoundtutor for putting these together.  These just happen to be tutorials in the Dubstep genre but the principles apply much more generally.  So, if you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the fundamental ingredients in making a synth patch, you owe it to yourself to check this series out:
